It. Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette

I recently purchased this palette from QVC for just under $40 (it's currently available from QVC, Ukta, and the It Cosmetics website for $42). It's a matte palette with one shimmery shade that is meant to be layered over the others to "transform" them from matte to shimmer. The shadows are super buttery and apply like a dream. Supposedly, they have anti aging ingredients (not sure how that would work, but it sounds good!).

The colors are mainly neutrals with a few pops of (muted, yet beautiful) color. The packaging is nice and sturdy with a firm magnetic closure. I can see the surface getting dirty and worn over time, but that isn't a huge thing for me.

Out of all my matte shadow palettes, this has the best overall texture. The shade selection is excellent for a neutral palette. It's definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a matte, neutral palette!

Mally Holiday 5 Piece Evercolor Shadow Stick Library

These are the first Mally products I've ever tried and I have to say I'm impressed! After seeing numerous positive reviews on YouTube about these shadow sticks, I had to bite the bullet and order them. These were around $32 plus shipping on QVC.

The set comes nicely packaged in a green box with stud detail. The box has a magnetic closure and feels sturdy.

The set includes: Deep Plum, Topaz, Cobalt, Firework, and Rosy Taupe.

Swatches from bottom: Derp Plum, Topaz, Cobalt, Firework, Rosy Taupe.

These seem very similar to the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks from the packaging to the formula. Once applied, you have some time to smudge these out and once they set they're not moving. These work fine on their own or as a base.

I think this is a great gift set and would make any beauty lover happy!

Budget Monday: NYX Cream Shadow in Musk

NYX is an awesome brand: budget friendly and cruelty free. For this Budget Monday, I bring you the NYX Cream Shadow in Musk.

Musk is a bronze that borders on a rosy gold. The formula is rather wet initially, but dries down nicely and doesn't crease or budge (on me). The doe foot applicator works fine, but I get theost even application by putting some product on my finger and patting it on my lid.

This is a lovely formula and I would purchase more in the future. I have to make my way through some products I already have before that happens!

Too Faced Be Merry And Bright Holiday Set

Too Faced Be Merry And Bright is an Ulta exclusive for Holiday 2013. It comes in a gorgeous gold polka dot makeup bag that is clear on one side. There is also a full size Lash Injection tubing mascara.

There are two smaller palettes: Be Merry has six more neutral (and a gorgeous green) eyeshadows, a shimmery peachy pink blush, and a slightly shimmery bronzer. Buttered Rum is stunning and Very Merry is gorgeous for the Holiday season.

Be Bright lives up to its name! This palette has much more vibrant colors, including a stunning teal green and a bright pink (very similar to So Fetch from the Pretty Rebel palette). Mauvelous does have some fall out and is similar in color to Marshmellow. This palette has a shimmery gold highlight and a vibrant pink blush.

I have used the Lash Injection mascara in the past and did really like it. I haven't cracked this tube open to see if my opinion changed.

This is currently on sale for $38 or $36 at Ulta; originally this was $46.

Too Faced Joy to the Girls Palette: photos

Oh Too Faced! You have out done yourself this holiday season! I have purchased all three of the larger palettes and will be posting general photos and thought over the next couple of days.

Joy to the Girls is packaged in a lovely aqua case with silver/gold polka dots all over it. It has a magnetic closure and is about the size of a hardcover book.

It contains fifteen eyeshadows and a full size Lashgasm mascara. The palette has no mirror. There is a nice mix of neutrals and color.

Twinkle is a particularly festive shade! I also really like Cookie Dough as a blending shade.

I haven't tried the Lashgasm mascara since I have too many mascaras open at the moment.

Overall, I do really like this palette! It's versatile and the packaging is exceptionally pretty. This was $46 and I feel like it's worth the price!

Make Out 2014: Prep

This coming year is the year I have decided to slim down my makeup collection. I have entirely too much for just one person to use and I need to cut back my spending in the cosmetic arena. Priorities need to be re-evaluated (in general and with what I really want from my cosmetic collection).

Makeup has been something of a hobby for me, especially since I became a stay at home mom. I needed something just for me and makeup became that thing. Since my son was born, things have grown a bit crazy in my collection. It takes up too much space.

So, I decided to do a Make Out Project in 2014. I will set some guidelines for myself and hopefully I'll stick to them!

Rule 1: Only 2 new eyeshadow palette purchases for the entirety of 2014.
***EDIT: I am not going to limit myself to 2 palettes, but will keep my total for the year to 12 products. Any palettes will count towards this.***

Rule 2: Only 3 new eyeshadow single/duos for 2014 and no new cream formulas for 2014.

Rule 3: Only 4 new lipstick/lipglosses for 2014.

Rule 4: No new mascaras until I've used up 2 (or 3 minis).

Rule 5: No new eyeliners until I've used up 3.

Rule 6: No new foundations until I've used up all that I currently have open.

So, that leaves me with 9 allowed purchases for 2014. I will allow 3 discretionary purchases for things that may come up (weddings, events, etc). I'm not counting foundation since I don't see myself using up what I have now, but if I do completely run out I will purchase one new foundation. I am not counting gifts against these numbers (mainly because few people purchase it for me). I will also be allowed to use any gift cards that I receive.

I think these are fair, reasonable rules and that I should be able to stick to them. I am allowing a total of 12 purchases, so I could make 1 per month if I need too. I didn't include skin care or hair care since I don't really horde those things. Over the next couple if weeks, I will be posting my makeup collection (in categories) and doing a real, honest count of what I have in my collection. Frankly, I'm a little afraid of the numbers, but I think it's necessary to really see where my collection sits.

If you are going to do something similar, let me know! I'd love to follow your journey!

Budget Monday: Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara

This Budget Monday, I bring you my favorite drugstore mascara...Clump Crusher by Cover Girl! I have the non waterproof formula (in general, I'm not a fan of waterproof mascara).

Clump Crusher is marketed as being non clumping, even after multiple coats. The wand is curved and has short, plastic bristles. I find the formula to be more on the dry side, but that is something I prefer as wetter mascaras tend to smudge like crazy on me.

I've found that I'm able to put on multiple coats without clumps and this mascara is great for combing out clumps from other mascaras.

I believe impaid around $8.99 for this at a local drugstore. You can usually find this in buy one, get one deals.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick: Fig and Zin

Oh how I love Bite Beauty! Their products are FDA approved for consumption (whether we like it or not, a lot of what goes on our lips ends up in our mouths), they use antioxidants and anti aging ingredients, and they formulate their products without synthetic fragrances, dyes, pthalates, or parabens. Good stuff! Oh, and the Luminous Creme lipstick formula is AMAZING!

I have two shades today: Fig and Zin. Fig is a lovely mauvey pink. It's a very natural  shade. Zin is pink, but more raspberry pink. These are opaque and wear comfortably. My only complaint is that they are a bit soft and 'knock around' a bit in their tubes.

Bite is an awesome brand and I highly recommend checking them out!

Budget Monday: Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Gloss

The Maybelline Color Elixir glosses are supposed to have the "care of a balm, color of a lipstick, and shine of a gloss". There are an awesome array of colors from natural to bold. I have two colors for you today: Signature Scarlet and Dashing Orchid.

Signature Scarlet is a beautiful red with fairly opaque color. Dashing Orchid is a lovely pinkish purple. I don't think these are opaque in a color like a lipstick, but are nice none the less. I do feel that these are a bit overpriced based on the amount of product you get; I paid around $7.99 each.
